biography
Sam Chenoweth completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) (Hons.) / Bachelor of Computer Science in 2003 at the University of Melbourne. After 2 years working in the machine design / automation industry he decided it was time for a change. In 2006 he commenced a PhD in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.
His non-academic interests include composing classical music (piano solo, chamber, orchestral), reading, walking and playing squash.
research interests
- Computational fluid dynamics, especially compressible flow problems
- Numerical methods for solving PDEs
- Scattered data approximation and interpolation on unstructured meshes
- Modelling of droplets and sprays
His current PhD topic, under the supervision of Dr Andrew Ooi, is developing a numerical simulation of combustion in a spray of bio-oil droplets.
