Introducing and encouraging engineering to secondary school students is one of the goals of Meridian '07.  The secondary school students are invited to experience the exhibition and get the chance to communicate directly to the final year students at the University.  In addition, the final year students have had a few seminars on how to give a professional presentation during the exhibition. The seminars are to ensure that the information given out is professionally presented to the attendance including to secondary school students.

‘Discovery Day’ will be run on the day of the exhibition. There will be a quiz given to the students and the answers can be obtained from the exhibiting students.  Laboratory demonstration will also be performed by the academic staff to the secondary students. Moreover, to further enhance the experience, a design challenge will be conducted.  Participating schools will be exposed to life at university and the possibility to pursue a career in engineering.

Meridian '07 will continue to run 'Meridian on the Move' where Meridian '07 visits rural schools that are unable to attend the exhibition. Video from senior lecturers and information about their cutting edge research will be briefly presented during the visit.

In addition, the design competition is posted below, giving secondary students the opportunity to plan their design before ‘Discovery Day’ in order to speed up the process of awarding prizes to outstanding designs.
